Enjoy Them Now While You Can
I ask that parents refrain from directing and just watch their children's personalities unfold. Laugh, giggle, make small talk, don't worry about getting the perfect posed smile.
Outfits- Be Authentically You
I don't have a client closet- I prefer families wear outfits they already own. Avoid busy patterns and screen-print tees. We'll go into detail after booking on how to pull looks from your own closet or local Target.
Shoes Optional
I suggest all family members go without shoes, even in nature. There is something so beautiful about bare toes in the studio and outdoors. Little kids love this part most.
Let the Child Be a Child
During the session, I let the child/children control the shoot. I give suggestions and go with their flow, keeping the session moving smoothly and authentically.

How long are your sessions?
Sessions run a minimum of 15 minutes for studio petite sessions and a maximum of 45 minutes for full sessions. Maternity clients sometimes love to add extra time to capture more looks and wardrobe changes; that option is always available.
Do you offer mini sessions?
Mini sessions are specialty offerings only; they are not available as custom or on-demand sessions. They open a limited number of times per year for specific themes and seasonal occasions. The best way to be the first to know is to join the email list.
Is 45 minutes really enough time?
Yes, and I say that as a mother myself. I know how to move quickly, keep kids engaged, and make the whole experience fun for everyone involved. We never feel rushed. We know exactly how to make every minute count."
Family sessions are based in the Kansas City area. A travel fee minimum of $100 applies to locations outside of Shawnee, KS. Newborn sessions within the KC Metro area are exempt from the travel fee.
Do you travel for family sessions?
What if my kids won't cooperate?
They always do, eventually. As a mother myself, I have seen every version of a reluctant toddler, a shy five-year-old, and a baby who decided nap time was more important than photos. My approach is to let kids be kids. I never force a pose or a smile. I follow their lead, keep the energy light and fun, and the genuine moments always come. Some of my favorite images have come from the sessions that started the most chaotically."
Wear what feels authentic to you- outfits you already own and love. I ask that families avoid busy patterns and screen-print graphics. Coordinate without matching perfectly — think tones and textures rather than identical outfits. After booking, I send a full style guide that walks you through exactly how to pull looks together from your own closet or a quick Target run.
